Nell Gwynn was one of the first female actors to grace the stage. She was known as pretty, witty Nellie – famous for being a mistress to King Charles II. This play covers the period of time that Nell Gwynn was discovered as an orange seller and her rise to fame on stage in the 1600s restoration theatre scene and her love affair with the King that lasted a lifetime. Jessica Swale wrote this play in 2015 giving a modern feel to a magical moment in history.
