‘Nell Gwynn’ is a true love story of rags to riches. History comes to life as we follow Nell’s story.
An orange seller that rose from the streets of London’s prostitute scene, she manages to warm the hearts of London’s theatre goers, with her pluck and wit. As one of the first female actresses of her time, famous for her comedic performances and charm, the audience are not the only ones falling for her. King Charles II, a theatre-going man of insatiable appetite soon meets his match with Nell and falls in love with her.
Cleverly written by Jessica Swale in 2015 ‘Nell Gwynn’ adds an intimacy to the life story of these incredible historical characters. Through fun, laughter, singing, and music their stories unfold.
